Early release today.  Adjusted bell schedule on the website and posted in your classrooms.


Homecoming starts on Monday with-PJ/Comfy Day. Tuesday-What You Love Day and Powder Puff  5:30 at Long Lake. Wednesday-Western Day and Freshmen BBQ 3:05 at the Allen House Pavilion. Thursday-Show Your Inner Nerd Day and Bonfire 7:00 south parking lot. Friday-School Colors Day- 9 purple, 10 white, 11 black, 12 togas.  Homecoming football game vs Stanley Lake at the NAAC.  Tailgate from 4:30 to 6:30, game at 7:00.  See the link on the AWest homepage for all of the Homecoming events and Spirit Week activities.  The Homecoming Dance is Saturday, September 30.  Tickets are $15 and may be purchased through your Jeffco Connect student fees account.  If you are bringing a guest to the dance who is not an Arvada West student you will need a dance permission form.  Pick one up in the Main Office or website.

*Freshmen BBQ Wednesday the 27th. Lots of food and fun activities including tie-dye.  Bring your student ID and a 100% cotton t-shirt to dye.  Allen House Pavilion at 3:05.


Seniors!  Yearbook photos are due by October 17.  Submission information can be found on the homepage of our website.


Help to provide suicide prevention for teens in need through donating to the Second Wind Fund. See NHS and Student Voice tables at lunches and before/after school to donate.


The Chess Club will hold its first meeting on Tuesday morning at 7:15am in room N126. Make your move and check out the chess club. See Mr. Pugliese for more information.


Gentlemen, if you are interested in playing Wheat Ridge Lacrosse, please attend an informational meeting on Monday, September 25 at 7:15pm in the Wheat Ridge HS cafeteria.

Juniors and seniors - college visits:   Monday, September 25 - University of Nebraska at 8:55, Arizona State University at 9:50, Johnson and Wales Denver 9:50,  Montana State University at 9:50 and Merrimack at 10:50.  Tuesday, September 26 - Savannah College of Art and Design at 10:50, Oklahoma State University at 12:40 and St Olaf at 1:15.  Wednesday, September 27 - Simpson College at 11:15 and Montana Tech at 12:50.  Sign up on Naviance.


Sophomores, the annual Jeffco Career Fair is on September 26th. If you are interested in attending and learning about different career opportunities, please come to the counseling office to pick up the information packet and permission form. This will be a fun filled afternoon meeting with different professionals! Space is limited, so sign up ASAP!


If you are thinking about going out of state for college, attend the College Fair of Greater Denver at Lakewood High School on Thursday, September 28th. The evening begins with a financial aid session at 5:45 pm and the fair goes from 6:30 to 8 pm. Over 220 out-of-state colleges and universities will be there - pre-register today at www.GoToCollegeFairs.com.


Amp up your school pride and get yourself an AW Popsocket! The Family Career and Community Leaders of America will be selling AW Popsockets at the school store during both lunches starting on Monday! Popsockets are $10 each and come in awesome Colorado flag and purple camouflage designs. Stop by and check them out!


Want to know how to protect yourself online?  Come to the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office presentation on internet safety on Wednesday, September 27 at 7:00pm in the AWest auditorium.  See the website for details.


Hey Wildcats!  Bleacher Nation will have two spirit buses to get amped up for the AWest homecoming football game!  We will meet in the student lot by the gym and cheer our football team to victory all the way to the Tailgate at the NAAC stadium.  If you are interested in riding the spirit bus to the football game next Friday, see Ms. Mulvaney in W229 to reserve your seat and pick up a permission form in the main office.  Permission forms will be due Wednesday, September 27th by 3:00.

Trick-or-Treat Street is just around the corner and that means Advisement Candy Competition time is here. The top Senior, Junior, Sophomore and Freshmen advisement with the most pounds of candy win a Santiago’s burrito party. Collection starts next week, so start bringing it in!!
