Graduation Ceremony 2021

 Reminder that this information is provided  by the district along with collaboration of Jefferson County Public Health.


  • Waivers must be signed by graduates and guests:
  • Both waivers must be brought the day of graduation and will be turned in upon entering.
  • Each guests must have their own waiver

 Senior Gauntlet/Pickup

  • Reminder that seniors will pick up caps/gowns, yearbooks, diplomas, programs, and anything else during the Senior Gauntlet on Thursday, May 20th from 1:30 to 3:00 pm
    • Bring your program to the ceremony as we will not have any at graduation
  • All fees and fines must be paid prior to picking up caps/gowns, yearbooks, diplomas, etc.
  • If your senior student doesn’t pick up their yearbook during the Senior Gauntlet/Pickup, we will have them at graduation for pick up as they are exiting



  • Please enter through the gates on the side your student will be sitting. You CANNOT go to the other side.
  • Female students will sit on West Side of Field
    • Please enter through the Main West Public Entrance and sit on the West Side of the stadium
    • There is limited parking in the West parking lot so you will probably have to park in the north lot and walk to the Main West Public Entrance
  • Male students will sit on East Side of Field
    • Please enter through Main North Public Entrance and sit in the East Side of the stadium
  • You will exit through the same entrance
  • When sitting please social distance (6 feet) between groups


  • Upon entering, you will need to provide your waiver, ticket, get your temperature taken, and answer a few questions
  • Gates will open about 90 minutes before the ceremony
  • Students should begin arriving around 12:30 pm


    Cap & Gown

  • You CANNOT alter the cap and gown for graduation
  • Gowns will be returned immediately following graduation – you keep cap and tassel
  • Take pictures before graduation
  • Bring your cords

 Dress Code

  • For males, dress pants, dress shoes and socks, dress shirt and tie.
  • For females, light colored dresses, skirt/blouses, pantsuits and dress shoes. (I would not wear heels as you will be walking on uneven surfaces)
  • Graduates will need to wear the AW masks that they receive on May 20th during Senior Gauntlet/Pickup


  • Take as many pictures prior to the event as graduates will return their gown immediately after the ceremony (you will not have an opportunity to take a picture with them in their gown after their ceremony)
  • LifeTouch will be there taking pictures and will be available to be ordered 3-5 days after graduation.

 Masks (Guests & Graduates)

  • If you are moving (walking) then you must wear a mask
  • If you are seated then you can remove your mask

 General Information

  • Fixed Live Stream on jumbo Tron during the ceremony. Stage is set up in the south end zone.
  • Live Streaming will be available for those not attending through the Arvada West YouTube Channel.
  • Guests may bring water, drinks (non-alcoholic) and snacks.
  • Guests and graduates must meet in the parking lot. There is no congregating at the stadium or parking lot
  • Bring a hat or umbrella. The event will go on rain or shine.
  • Wear comfortable shoes especially graduates as the ceremony is on grass and the graduates will have a decent amount of walking.
  • No confetti, glitter, helium/water balloons, silly string, fireworks, fog machines or noisemakers.
  • Please pick up any trash afterwards.

Answers to Graduation/Senior Questions:

  • Do we get designated masks to wear? Yes, you will pick it up on May 20th during Senior Pick Up
  • How will access work for guests that need physical accommodations (a grandparent with a walker for example)? There is Handicap parking on the West Side with Handicap seating on the West Side
  • When purchasing, not renting, the Chromebooks prior to Freshman year, we were told the student would keep them after graduation. Why does the Senior Contract indicate that they must be returned in order for the student to graduate? Some people have paid for their chromebook and some didn’t.   • I don’t know if my student can attend the Senior Gauntlet/Pick Up, how do we get graduation tickets? Tickets can be picked up in the office beforehand if your student cannot attend on Thursday, May 20th.
  • How can I reserve a few seats for graduation that don't require climbing stairs? You will need to sit on the West Side and there is ADA Seating on the top row.
  • Will seniors who are fully vaccinated (2nd dose plus 14 days) be required to quarantine if they are exposed to a positive case at AWest? If they are fully vaccinated (2 weeks after their 2nd shot) they do not need to quarantine if they have been exposed.
  • Is there any practices for the senior graduations? Unfortunately, we will not be holding a graduation practice, and all information will be communicated through email
  • Can we wear sneakers to graduation? (Girls and guys) Sneakers are not allowed, see dress code above.
  • The change to remote learning for seniors is locked out "Google Form from newsletters, but I can't open it because it's restricted to people within your organization. What am I to do? It should be fixed but if not please email me (
  • Will you recognize students going into the military? Yes and Ms. Brunk has reached out to military recruiters to get verification. If you are not sure, please reach out to Ms. Brunk (


A graduation contract needs to be completed by Monday, May 3rd. Please fill out the graduation contract through the following form: Senior Graduation Contract.  If you are not planning to walk at graduation please contact Mrs. Thorne (

A graduation fee has been added to your student’s fee account.  Please go to Jeffco Connect and review/pay any outstanding balances at your earliest convenience.  All fees/fines must be paid prior to receiving either a yearbook (if purchased) or cap/gown/diploma.  If you are unable to get into Jeffco Connect, please contact the school to assist with resetting your password.


Girls are to wear a light colored or white dress, skirt/top or pantsuit. Bright/dark/or print dresses may show through the white gown. Gown length will be approximately mid-calf. White or light colored shoes are preferred. No flip flops. High heels are not recommended as we will be walking on turf.

Boys are to wear a dress shirt, tie, dark dress pants, dark socks, dress shoes/boots.  Hiking boots, tennis shoes, or sandals will not be allowed.

Each graduate will receive four tickets, and will be distributed the week of graduation. We are unable to provide more than four tickets per graduate, as we are only given an allotted number based on the number of graduates we have.

I'm not able to access the scholarship information form on your latest email. It says I need permission to view. Would you mind sending me the link? Scholarship form must be filled out by the student with them logged into their Jeffco Account.

Can dress boots be considered dress shoes for boys? Yes

When and/or how will the seniors know who will be announcing their name at graduation so that they can be sure that person knows how to correctly pronounce their name? Should the seniors contact that person or will that person be in touch with the seniors, will there be a practice or best way to handle this?
