Future Day 2018

Our annual Future Day is just around the corner on Wednesday, October 10th! On this day, students focus their time on planning for the future. There will be no classes held this day, but students are required to attend their assigned grade level activity at the designated times. Buses and lunch will run as usual.

9th grade-  8:00am-11:00am. 9th graders will be working on their Career and Academic planning using Naviance as well as participating in some transition activities into High School. Counseling contacts: Annamae Boots and Alyssa Stanton.

10th grade- 7:15am-11:15am.  All sophomores* will be taking the ASVAB test on Future Day in the morning that will help them explore careers by finding their strengths.  If a student misses the ASVAB to take the PSAT/NMSQT, they can sign up to take the ASVAB on November 15 for free. The ASVAB test can be used to meet the new graduation competencies for 2021 graduates and beyond. Counseling contact: Mike Sena.

11th and 12th grade- 11:00am-3:00pm. All juniors* and seniors will listen to Layman Hicks, a fantastic motivational speaker who will be speaking on “Maximize the Moment”. They will then attend 3 breakout sessions and interact with career and college professionals at the Future Fair  (check link to see who will be in attendance). Breakout sessions are an opportunity for students to learn more about a topic of interest in regards to career and future planning. The Future Fair will have representatives from numerous colleges, careers, skilled trades, and the military. It gives students the opportunity to speak one-on-one with representatives from many fields and backgrounds, giving them a contact to continue their exploration. Counselor contacts: Lisa Ragon and Christyn Keyler.

*PSAT/NMSQT test- optional test for 10th and 11th grade. 7:15-11:30am. Juniors will then participate in the afternoon grade-level activities (see above). More information on the PSAT/NMSQT. Registration for the PSAT/NMSQT has closed.  Counseling contact: Stacia Taves.
